Definitions: Infant Deaths include deaths of infants up to one year of age. The rate is the number per 1,000 live births. An * indicates fewer than six occurrences.
Explanation of the Indicator:  
Infant Mortality is the number of infant deaths that occur before age 1 per 1,000 live births.  The mother's health, prenatal care, and access to health care play a large part in infant mortality.  High infant mortality rates are considered preventable.
