The Drain Commissioner is primarily responsible for the administration of the county drain code, Public Act 40 (1956), as it applies to Marquette County.

The Drain Commissioner has jurisdiction over:  

  • all established drains within the county
  • all new drain construction
  • maintenance of existing drains
  • establishment of water management districts
The Drain Commissioner is an elected official, serving a term of four years
