WIC is an equal opportunity program.

Research has shown that breast milk is the very best food for babies in their first year of life.  A major goal of the WIC program is to improve nutrition for infants, so it's no surprise that WIC encourages and supports breastfeeding!

  • WIC mothers who choose to breast feed receive support, education and follow up through the Peer Counseling Program.
  • Breastfeeding mothers are eligible to participate in the WIC program longer than non-breastfeeding mothers.
  • Women who exclusively breast feed their infants qualify for an enhanced food package.
  • Breastfeeding mothers may qualify for a breast pump through the WIC program.
Marquette County's WIC Program offers a Peer Counseling Program, Breastfeeding Classes, a Breastfeeding Mom's Group and a Breast Pump Program. Please click on the links to learn more about what we offer, or call us at (906) 315-2638.
