With the help of Michigan Community Dental Clinics,Inc. and the Marquette County Health Department, we will once again provide Marquette County elementary schools with the Flouride Mouthrinse Program (FMP) for the 2012-2013 school year.
The FMP is free to all students who return a signed parental consent allowing them to participate. The students will rinse once a week, for one minute (with fluoride) throughout the school year. Parent volunteers, teachers, aides, and school nurses are trained to implement the program. The training and the supplies are also free.
The program is a wonderful adjunct to daily oral hygiene habits and regular dental visits. The FMP is not meant to replace brushing, flossing or trips to the dentist. Area schools that are participating this year are : Negaunee's Lakeview Elementary; NICE's Aspen Ridge Elementary; Wells Township School; Ishpeming's Birchview Elementary; Republic-Michigamme School; and Gwinn's Gilbert Elementary.
If you have any questions regarding the FMP, please call Rebecca Maino, Dental Health Coordinator, at 315-2615, or the Community Health Division at 475-7848.
