Program Purpose:
To work with high-risk families addressing issues on stress management, discipline, nutrition, and parenting. Family Support Education seeks to prevent abuse, removal of children from the home, and limit court involvement.

Target Population:
High-risk families referred into the program by the Department of Human Services (DHS).

Description of Services:
This project is conducted under a subcontract with the Department of Human Services. Our Family Support Educators provide parenting services to clients referred into the program by DHS. The educators provide a series of structured and goal-orientated sessions in the client's home. They also tailor the training to the needs of the family. The topics include, money management, stress management, time management, nutrition, parenting skills social/recreation activities, personal hygiene, health, study techniques, homemaking, housing issues, and discipline. We are contracted to serve 80 families and provide 2,500 hours of service per year.

Benefits of Services:
The goal of the project is to work with families with children under the age of 18 who are harmed or threatened with harm by persons responsible for their health and welfare. The goal of the project is to keep children in the home, safe, protected and loved! The success will result in money saved by keeping children in the home as well as provide a family structure that provides for the success of the child in future life goals.
