The Marquette County Environmental Health Division provides Public Health related environmental services under contract with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH). 

The Environmental Health Division administers a range of statutes including Local Environmental Health Codes, Michigan Food Law, Michigan's Safe Drinking Water Act, State statutes governing commercial on-site wastewater treatment, body art, swimming pools and hot tubs, campgrounds, environmental sections of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) statutes, and portions of Michigan's Public Health Code.

Primary Program Areas Include:

  • Food Service
  • Drinking Water
  • On-site wastewater treatment
  • Body Art (tattooing and piercing)
  • Public swimming pools and hot tubs
  • Campgrounds
  • MDHHS Environmental Inspections (daycare centers and homes, foster care homes and institutions, children camps, and children's treatment facilities)
