Marquette County utilizes Michigan State Housing Authority (MSHDA) Community Development Block Grant funds to make deferred loans available to low-income homeowners with an income at or below 80% of the area median.
Homeowner assistance activities include:
- Single-family housing rehabilitation
- Emergency repairs
Eligible Improvements Include (but are not limited to):

- roofs,
- windows,
- doors,
- siding,
- plumbing,
- electric, and
- lead paint hazard reduction
|
- well,
- septic, and
- furnace
|
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Single family dwelling occupied by owner/applicant
- At least 1/2 ownership in home; cannot be leased land
- Homeowner's insurance and property tax payments must be current
- Other criteria evaluated to determine eligibility
- Selection by the Marquette County Planning Commission
Mobile homes are not eligible.

Funding terms:
- Interest-free loan, deferred until sale or lease of home
- Depending on income, owner responsible for 0-50% of repairs
Maximum Loan Amounts:
- Rehabilitation- $35,000
- Emergency (depending on repair)- $3-5,000
