The Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney oversees the largest prosecutor's office north of Grand Rapids Michigan. We are funded by County general fund dollars and employ 10 attorneys and 7 support staff. Each year we process about 3,000 misdemeanors, 400 felonies, a large number of probate cases, hundreds of actions for child support and paternity, handle a full load of criminal appeals and a full time civil practice.

We are on the cutting edge of law enforcement and provide training for U.P. police agencies and prosecutors. We have a model domestic violence project, funded by a $250,000 federal grant. Our office has represented the People of the State of Michigan before the Michigan Supreme Court on numerous cases. We also have a full time victim/witness coordinator to help victims deal with the criminal justice process.

Gary L. Walker, the elected prosecutor, is Chairman of the Michigan Prosecuting Attorney's Coordinating Council and serves as Vice President of the National District Attorneys Association. As the longest serving prosecutor in Michigan, he serves not only Marquette County, but makes our influence felt at the state and national level.
